Two Mini Horror Reviews💀

“. . . Alabama was a backward place then, where loathsome skin diseases and sudden violent deaths were not uncommon phenomena . . .”

📚

The Amulet by Michael McDowell, a macabre, brutal, and (at times) darkly funny, mid–1960s tale of a young woman’s fraught existence and a mysterious amulet’s gruesome journey through a small southern town and beyond. A slow-burning, deliciously horrific, havoc-filled bloodbath.

“Love is a shape-shifting monster . . . A werewolf with a bottomless stomach.”

📚

When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy, a gripping, horrifying, page-turning masterpiece where no one is safe and nothing is quite as it seems. Gorgeous, hopeful, incandescent, and utterly magnificent.
