Five Anticipated 2025 Releases💀
New year, new releases! Here are five I’m excited to read:
- Blood on Her Tongue by Johanna van Veen (March 25th), a 19th century, Netherlands-based vampiric tale of twin sisters, mysterious illnesses, supernatural secrets, and monstrous truths — my most anticipated read of the year after My Darling Dreadful Thing topped my 2024 favorites list!
- Bochica by Carolina Flórez-Cerchiaro (May 13th), a debut gothic horror novel surrounding “a real-life Latin American haunted mansion,” “a murky labyrinth of family secrets,” and “a young, aristocratic woman desperate to escape her past.” Add to that cryptic journal entries, dark secrets, and even darker legacies, and this sounds like one serious slice of gothic perfection!
- The Bone Drenched Woods by L. V. Russell (April 15th), a story of one woman’s struggles amid insatiable horrors and rigid societal norms. After devouring The Quiet Stillness of Empty Houses, I can’t wait to get my little hands on this forthcoming gothic fantasy, which sounds dark, brutal, and utterly sumptuous.
- Gothictown by Emily Carpenter (March 25th), a pandemic-period gothic of tempting incentives, idyllic destinations, creeping misgivings, and menacing realities. Sounds tense, twisty, and deliciously malign!
- Wake Up and Open Your Eyes by Clay McLeod Chapman (January 7th), “a relentless and emotionally charged social horror novel about a family on the run from a demonic possession epidemic that spreads through media.” A searing and terrifyingly prescient premise that promises to pack the same emotional punch as all of Clay McLeod Chapman’s incredible novels (review of mind-blowing masterpiece Ghost Eaters coming this week!).
What new releases are you excited to read in 2025?
Stay tuned for a forthcoming backlist bump!
