Do you judge books by their covers? Whether you do or don’t, most readers will agree that there’s nothing more beautiful, memorable, or addictive than a beautiful book cover. Most will also agree that covers are a vital bookish component. Great ones are not only eye-catching and appealing, but precisely convey the tone and content of their stories. They are a literal representation of the novels they contain; it’s their job to encapsulate their assigned stories and, when done right, they immediately draw the right readers in, letting them know at a glance that this could be their next great read. And when really done right, covers are iconic, frame- and merch-worthy, and withstand the test of time.
With all of that in mind, I’ve put together a list of some of my current favorite horror covers. To view cover details, click on each image to view a larger version.
