Two Mini Horror Reviews:

“Even the devil was an angel once.”

📚

Aura by Carlos Fuentes, translated by Lysander Kemp, a dark, deliciously gothic tale of a young historian, a fateful advertisement, an aged widow, a beautiful companion, an irresistible attraction, and a shocking reveal. Dank, murky, creepy, horrific, disturbing, page-turning, and oh-so-atmospheric with a unique, present-tense, second-person POV that gives the mysterious story added depth and intrigue.

Thank you to Trevor Williamson (@sleyhousepresents) for another fantastic recommendation!

“Only we can make our futures.”

📚

The Cloisters by Katy Hays, an addictive dark academia/gothic tale of secrets, lies, historical mysteries, tarot, and toxic relationships that’s as twisty and shocking as it is compelling and disquieting. An atmospheric and satisfying exploration of fate, destiny, control, and dysfunction.
