2026 Reading Goals
2026 Reading Goals:
I usually don’t set reading goals, as for me, they create unnecessary stress around something that should be fun, and that I do because I love it. So, let’s call the list below some reading-related enhancements I’m really looking forward to in 2026!
- Complete the 2026 Books in the Freezer Reading Challenge: This is always my favorite part of the year. I love seeing what the new prompts are, as well as planning my reading list, not to mention discovering titles I might not have otherwise, enjoying the reading experience, and creating post-challenge visuals to share. So. Much. Fun!
- Three Goals Inspired by Mother Horror: Sadie Hartmann recently shared an Instagram post with some fantastic ideas for 2026 reading activities. Here are my chosen three: (1) read more classic/vintage horror books and (2) more horror nonfiction and (3) create a 5-star book poster to share at the end of the year. I’m not setting number goals for classics/nonfiction (or for the number of books I read this year overall), as it’s not a contest, and any amount of reading is wonderful and should be celebrated.
- Read Books That Have Been Haunting My Shelves for a While: I’ve been in the mood for this recently, and I’ve found it incredibly satisfying. A great reason to continue chipping away at it this year! (Additional Inspiration: the @rocknrollbookshelf 26in26 Challenge)
- Don’t stress! Read What I Want, Honor Where I Am, and Enjoy the Journey: The most important part, even if that means not fulfilling everything I’ve listed above (which is perfectly okay)!
How about you? Do you usually set reading goals, and do you have any for 2026?
🖤Amanda
