Like most bookworms, my TBR is forever growing and always insurmountable, and while I’m looking forward to reading as many of the books on my shelves as I can this year, I’m also removing any sort of pressure and fully catering to my mood reader needs.
This means reading whatever I’m in the mood for, whenever I’m in the mood for it without guilt or pressure, as well as only spending time and effort writing reviews for books that I find really compelling. And while what I’m in the mood for can change depending on the day, I’ve put together a list of six titles I’m really looking forward to reading right now.
Six Anticipated Horror Fiction Reads:
- The Reformatory by Tananarive Due: I’m late to the party on this historical horror novel. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews since its October release and currently have a library copy ready and waiting on my shelf. Can’t wait to dive in!
- Gothic by Philip Fracassi: As a writer, reader, and gothic horror enthusiast, a story involving a struggling writer and a (possibly?) haunted desk fairly screams my name. And the best part? I already have a library copy of this one, as well!
- Schrader's Chord by Scott Leeds: Another intriguing premise surrounding cursed vinyl records that jumped to the top of my TBR after I scored a pristine $2 copy at my local used indie.
- House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson: A page-turning gothic tale of mystery, murder, and bloodmaids that sounds oh-so-creepy and atmospheric! Library copy: Check!
- Hearts Strange and Dreadful by Tim McGregor: A dark historical horror account set in 1820s New England concerning a deadly plague, a gifted orphan, and a mysterious traveler. After falling in love with Eynhallow’s atmosphere and writing, I need to read this, and soon!
- House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski: Everywhere I turn, I find polarizing reviews and discussion surrounding this behemoth of a book, which only increases its allure and makes me excited to finally experience it for myself!
What books on your TBR are you excited to read?
