Book List: Must-Read Radar: Seven Forthcoming Horror Fiction Releases

Every Tuesday is exciting, as Tuesdays are new release days in the book publishing world, when books of all types — including horror fiction — are let loose upon the world. Here are seven horror fiction novels currently scheduled for release in September and October that I’m excited to read.

  • Nestlings by Nat Cassidy: a horror novel that “harnesses the creeping paranoia of Rosemary's Baby and the urban horror of Salem's Lot, set in an exclusive New York City residential building” (10/31/2023)

  • What Kind of Mother by Clay McLeod Chapman: a supernatural horror/domestic suspense novel that “mixes Southern Gothic, a missing child story, and body horror into an entertaining brew sure to inform your nightmares” (9/12/2023)

  • A Haunting on the Hill by Elizabeth Hand: “the first-ever authorized novel to return to the world of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, a suspenseful, contemporary, and terrifying story of longing and isolation all its own” (10/3/2023)

  • Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison: a “fiery, irreverent horror novel” in which “a cynical twenty something must confront her unconventional family’s dark secrets” (9/12/2023)

  • The September House by Carissa Orlando: a “compulsively readable, twisty, and layered debut novel” in which “a woman is determined to stay in her dream home even after it becomes a haunted nightmare” (9/5/2023)
